Does it need electricity?
No. It's insulated, not heated. The roof and door flap are lined with a reflective film that reflects your cat's own body heat back into the shelter, and the walls are padded for extra insulation. There's nothing to plug in or charge.
Is it waterproof?
The roof and door flap are water-resistant and built to shed rain, and the raised legs keep the base off wet ground. We're calling it water-resistant rather than waterproof until we've tested a sample ourselves in real UK weather.
What size is it?
One size for now: Large, 55 × 45 × 40 cm outside. That gives an adult cat room to turn around and curl up, with the door flap closing behind it.
Will it protect my cat from rain and damp?
Yes, that's a core part of the design: a water-resistant roof and door flap, plus raised legs that lift the shelter off wet or muddy ground, where cardboard and unlined shelters usually fail first.
Will it protect my cat from foxes?
No shelter can guarantee that, and we won't tell you it does. What it gives your cat is an enclosed, private space to retreat into. For context, Cats Protection's own figures show fox attacks on cats are uncommon — around 5 in every 10,000 vet visits, compared with 541 for fights with other cats.
How do I clean it?
We're finalising exact care instructions after testing a sample — this answer will be updated once confirmed. In general, a wipe-down of the outer fabric is expected to be enough for everyday use.
Is it suitable for summer as well as winter?
Yes. The insulation moderates temperature rather than only adding heat, and the raised legs help keep it from becoming a stuffy box in warm weather. If you don't need it in summer, it folds flat for storage.
Can more than one cat use it?
It's designed and sized for one cat to use comfortably. If two cats share your garden, consider two shelters: cats rarely share a small space.
How long does assembly take, and what tools do I need?
No tools. It opens into shape in a couple of minutes and folds flat again just as quickly.
How long does delivery take?
6–10 working days. It ships from our supplier's warehouse, and the delivery estimate reflects that — it isn't a same-day dispatch product.
